Advent Series – Welcoming the Stranger
November 24 – December 23, Weekend Services
The Greek word for hospitality in the Bible literally means “to welcome or love the stranger”.
During this Advent season, we’ll be exploring biblical and everyday stories of hospitality including Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, and the Wisemen. Each week we’ll hear engaging, in-character dialogue and receive practical teaching to apply in our lives. As we move through advent, the goal is to uncover what it means to be truly hospitable as a community of faith – a place where changes can take place and our lives can be transformed.
“Hospitality means primarily the creation of free space where the stranger can enter and become a friend…. Hospitality is not to change people, but to offer them space where change can take place.” – Henri J.M. Nouwen
